i think brittle is an adjective that means snappish or sharp in sound
I've also heard brittle used as being easily broken, but i don't think it works in this context.
As weird as it may seem I've heard brittle used in shampoo commercials. It means dull, texture being sharp, easliy broken. Also i have heard my grandmother us it saying "drink milk of you will have brittle bones" meaning weak bones.
i think it might be fragile in this case
