A reference for vocabulary words in American Literature

I think that wigwam is an Indiam dwelling of some sort; maybe like a tepee.
A wigwam is usually oval or rounded and has a covering with something such as animal hide.
When searching wigwam it came up as being used in a musical called Spring Awakening. In that context it was used to describe something for childreen to go and "hide" in.
I agree that a wigwam is an Indian home. I remember learning about them in preschool.
